Intro to Mindful Art | 4 weeks | $120.00
Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one’s attention to the present moment, becoming an observer of one’s thoughts and emotions without judgment. While mindfulness has its roots in meditation, it can be practiced through activities such as art-making.
Mindful art is using the act of creating art as a way to be in the present moment. With this type of art you are not striving for a specific outcome or to make something that looks “good”. You are simply allowing yourself to make whatever marks you feel like in the moment without concern for the end result. It’s about the process, not the outcome.
In this 4-week class you will learn simple mindful art practices that promote relaxation, stress relief, and an increased sense of well-being. These are exercises that anyone can do regardless of skill level.
Week 1: Simple mandalas
Week 2: Watercolor doodles and slow painting
Week 3: Expressive collage exercises
